What Laser Liposuction involves
Three-area laser liposuction is a regional contour rather than a spot treatment: the whole trunk (abdomen, flanks and lower back — a "360"), the whole leg line (inner thighs, outer thighs and knees), or a mixed plan such as abdomen, flanks and chin. Treating a region in one session means the zones are blended into each other on the table, so the outcome is a new silhouette rather than three improved patches.
Three areas is also where safety planning becomes explicit. Total fat removed in one session is limited — most guidelines and hospital protocols cap large-volume liposuction at around 4–5 litres of aspirate, and the tumescent local anaesthetic dose is also capped — so the surgeon plans how much comes from each zone to stay within those limits. In a healthy patient of normal weight, three areas fit comfortably within them. In a heavier patient wanting a lot removed from each, the honest plan is two sessions.
What it does not do: it is not a weight-loss procedure even at three areas; it does not tighten hanging skin; and it does not treat internal abdominal fat. If a trunk 360 reveals that the abdominal skin is loose, the surgeon will say a tummy tuck is the operation that would actually satisfy you.
Scars: Six to eight 3 mm port sites placed in creases, fading to dots
Who it suits — and who it does not
Good candidates
- ✓Three related zones that together define a region — trunk 360, whole leg line, or trunk plus chin — at a stable weight
- ✓Skin with good tone across the zones
- ✓BMI under about 30 so that safe volume limits give a visible result
- ✓Non-smokers in good general health, fit for a 2–3 hour anaesthetic
- ✓A wish for a regional change in silhouette
Usually advised against
- –Weight still changing, or a hope of losing weight through liposuction
- –Loose skin in any of the zones — that zone needs skin removal instead
- –A firm abdomen from internal fat
- –Wanting more removed than safe limits allow in one session — staging is the answer, not a bigger operation
- –Significant medical conditions or previous clots that make a longer procedure unwise
Techniques and options
Regional planning and blending
The three zones are marked as one contour. For a trunk 360, the surgeon works around the body — abdomen, flanks, lower back — feathering each boundary so the waist narrows evenly from every angle. For the legs, inner thigh, outer thigh and knee are shaped into a single line.
Tumescent laser-assisted liposuction
The same laser-assisted method as for one or two areas — tumescent infiltration, laser lipolysis, fine-cannula aspiration — applied zone by zone, with the patient repositioned as needed to reach the back and sides.
Volume and safety limits
Total aspirate is planned in advance, typically 2–4 litres for three areas, within the hospital’s large-volume protocol. Tumescent lidocaine is dosed to body weight. Fluid balance, temperature and blood loss are monitored throughout, and one hospital night follows. If your goals exceed the limits, the plan is two sessions months apart.
Port placement
Six to eight ports in creases — navel, bikini line, buttock crease, back dimples, knee crease — so scars are hidden.
Compression
A full garment covering all zones, worn for 4–6 weeks, controls swelling and helps skin settle evenly.
What happens on surgery day
- 1
Assessment before travel: photos from the front, sides and back; the pinch test in each zone; weight and BMI; and your goal. The surgeon confirms the three zones, estimates volumes, and checks they fit safely in one session.
- 2
Admission on the morning of surgery after fasting. Blood tests, ECG and anaesthetic review; compression stockings and an anti-clotting injection. Markings standing up, including all blending boundaries.
- 3
Under general anaesthesia, tumescent infiltration and laser-assisted liposuction zone by zone with repositioning as needed; volumes are recorded per zone; symmetry is checked from multiple angles.
- 4
Ports closed or left to drain; a full compression garment fitted.
- 5
One night in hospital with monitoring of fluid balance and comfort. Walking the same evening.
- 6
Discharge the next morning. Clinic visit at day 4–5 for a check and the fit-to-fly confirmation.
Recovery timeline
Days 1–3
Bruising, swelling and soreness across the region; fluid leaks from the ports for 24–48 hours. Regular painkillers, garment at all times, gentle walking several times a day.
Days 4–7
Showers from day 2–3. Desk work towards the end of the week. Fit-to-fly check.
Weeks 2–3
Bruising fades; firmness and lumpiness as tissue heals — normal. Light cardio from week 2. Lymphatic massage helps considerably with a three-area treatment.
Weeks 4–6
Garment stops at 4–6 weeks. Full exercise.
Months 3–6
Final contour at 3 months; skin tightening continues to 6 months.
Results — and their limits
A new regional silhouette — a narrower, evenly contoured waist from every angle, or a smoother leg line — rather than three treated spots.
Removed fat cells do not return; remaining cells respond to weight change. A stable weight keeps the result.
Skin tightening from laser is modest and gradual.
Early irregularity across a larger area is normal and smooths with massage and time; small touch-ups are possible after 6 months.
When it is final: Swelling settles over 3 months; skin tightening continues to 6 months
Risks and how they are managed
Every operation carries risk. These are the ones that matter for this procedure, and what is done to reduce, spot or treat each.
Fluid shifts, anaesthetic effects and blood loss
Planned volumes within safe limits, weight-based tumescent dosing, monitoring throughout, one night in hospital. This is why three areas are done in a hospital, not an office.
Contour irregularity, asymmetry or steps between zones
Regional marking, feathering, multi-angle checks; massage and time; touch-up after 6 months if needed.
Loose skin after fat removal
Correct patient selection; laser assistance helps mild laxity.
Seroma
Compression garment; drained with a needle if it forms.
Numbness
Common for weeks to months; usually resolves.
Burns with laser
Rare; temperature control and technique.
Infection, bleeding
Tumescent technique limits bleeding; antibiotic cover; prompt review of increasing redness or swelling.
Blood clots
Compression stockings, anti-clotting injection, early walking, no flight before the fit-to-fly check.

How to compare this with a quote at home
Ask any clinic for the same list: surgeon and anaesthetist fees, hospital nights, tests, medication, garments or splints, follow-up visits. A cheaper headline price usually excludes several of these. Then add your flights and insurance to our price for a like-for-like comparison.
How to prepare
- 1.Send photos from the front, sides and back, relaxed, with your height and weight, and name the three zones; the surgeon may propose a better regional plan.
- 2.Hold a stable weight. Stop smoking 4 weeks before; stop aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil and supplements that increase bleeding 14 days before; discuss the pill or HRT.
- 3.Bring loose clothing and buy a second compression garment for washing.
- 4.Arrange 5–6 nights in Turkey and 5–7 days off desk work.
Aftercare at home
- •Compression garment day and night for 4–6 weeks, removed only to shower.
- •Expect fluid leakage from the ports for 1–2 days.
- •Walk daily from day 1; light cardio from week 2; full exercise from week 4–6.
- •Lymphatic drainage massage from week 2 — book sessions at home before you travel.
- •Keep port scars out of the sun for 3 months.
- •Report increasing pain, one-sided swelling, fever, spreading redness, calf pain or breathlessness. Photos at 2 weeks, 6 weeks and 3 months.
