What Laser Liposuction involves
Single-area laser liposuction treats one stubborn pocket of fat that diet and exercise have not shifted: the lower abdomen, the flanks ("love handles"), the double chin, the inner or outer thighs, the knees, the bra-line or the upper arms. Through two or three 3 mm ports, tumescent fluid numbs and firms the fat, a fine laser fibre melts it and heats the underside of the skin, and the liquefied fat is removed with a thin cannula. The result is a smoother, slimmer contour in a specific place, with tiny scars and a short recovery.
One "area" is a defined anatomical zone treated on both sides where relevant — both flanks, both inner thighs, the whole lower abdomen, the chin and jawline. The most common single-area requests are the abdomen and the chin. If two zones are needed for the contour to look balanced (abdomen and flanks are the classic pair), the two-area package is the honest recommendation, because treating one and not the other can make the untreated zone more obvious.
What it does not do: it is not weight loss — a single area yields a few hundred millilitres to a litre of fat — it does not tighten significantly loose skin, and it does not treat fat inside the abdomen around the organs. A firm, round abdomen that does not pinch is internal fat and will not respond.
Scars: Two or three 3 mm port sites, placed in creases, fading to dots
Who it suits — and who it does not
Good candidates
- ✓One localised fat pocket out of proportion with the rest of the body, at a stable weight
- ✓Skin with good tone that springs back when pinched — laser assistance helps mild laxity
- ✓BMI under about 30; results are more visible and safer
- ✓Non-smokers, good general health
- ✓Realistic that the aim is contour in one place, not a full-body change
Usually advised against
- –Weight still changing or a wish to lose weight — liposuction is not the tool
- –Loose, hanging skin in the area — a tummy tuck, arm lift or thigh lift is needed
- –A firm, round abdomen from internal fat
- –Two adjacent zones that need treating together for balance — the two-area package is better
- –Bleeding disorders, uncontrolled diabetes, or an inability to wear a compression garment
Techniques and options
Tumescent infiltration
A dilute solution of local anaesthetic and adrenaline is infiltrated into the fat. It numbs the area, shrinks blood vessels so bleeding and bruising are minimal, and firms the fat so it is removed evenly.
Laser-assisted lipolysis
A fine laser fibre passed through the port melts fat cells before suction and delivers controlled heat to the underside of the dermis, which stimulates collagen and produces a modest tightening over the following months. It is most useful in areas with mild laxity — the chin, the lower abdomen after pregnancy, the inner thighs.
Fine-cannula aspiration
Thin cannulas (2–3 mm) remove the liquefied fat in a criss-cross pattern from two or three ports, leaving an even layer beneath the skin and feathering into the surrounding area so there is no step or dent.
Port placement
Ports are placed in natural creases — the navel, the bikini line, under the chin, the knee crease — so the small scars are hidden.
Compression
A compression garment for the treated area (or a chin strap) is worn for 3–4 weeks to control swelling and help the skin settle evenly onto the new contour.
What happens on surgery day
- 1
Assessment before travel: photos of the area from several angles and a description of the pinch test; the surgeon confirms the area, that the skin will retract, and whether local with sedation or general anaesthesia is appropriate.
- 2
Admission on the morning of surgery after fasting. Blood tests and anaesthetic review. Markings standing up.
- 3
Under anaesthesia, tumescent infiltration, laser lipolysis, then aspiration through 3 mm ports with feathering into surrounding tissue. The area is checked for evenness by pinch and by eye.
- 4
Ports closed with a stitch or left open to drain; compression garment fitted.
- 5
One night in hospital for observation and comfort. Walking the same evening.
- 6
Discharge the next morning. Clinic visit at day 3–4 for a check and the fit-to-fly confirmation.
Recovery timeline
Days 1–2
Bruising, swelling and soreness like a heavy workout; fluid leaks from the ports for 24–48 hours, which is normal. Regular painkillers, garment at all times, gentle walking.
Days 3–5
Showers from day 2–3 with the garment removed briefly. Desk work resumes. Fit-to-fly check.
Weeks 2–3
Bruising fades; the area feels firm and slightly lumpy as it heals — normal. Light cardio from week 2. Garment continues.
Weeks 3–4
Garment stops. Full exercise. Numbness resolving.
Months 3–6
Final contour at 3 months; skin continues to tighten until about 6 months.
Results — and their limits
A slimmer, smoother contour in the treated zone that shows in clothes within weeks and settles fully by 3 months. Port scars fade to dots.
Removed fat cells do not return; remaining cells enlarge with weight gain, so the result depends on a stable weight.
Skin tightening from the laser is modest and gradual; it is a benefit in mild laxity, not a substitute for skin removal.
Minor irregularity in the first months is normal and smooths with massage and time.
When it is final: Swelling settles over 3 months; skin tightening continues to 6 months
Risks and how they are managed
Every operation carries risk. These are the ones that matter for this procedure, and what is done to reduce, spot or treat each.
Contour irregularity or asymmetry
Criss-cross technique, feathering and checking by pinch; massage and time; a small touch-up under local anaesthesia after 6 months if needed.
Loose skin after fat removal
Correct patient selection; laser assistance helps mild cases.
Seroma
Compression garment; drained with a needle if it forms.
Numbness
Common for weeks to months; usually resolves.
Burns with laser
Rare; temperature control and technique.
Infection, bleeding
Tumescent technique limits bleeding; antibiotic cover; prompt review of increasing redness or swelling.
Blood clots
Early walking; compression stockings for general anaesthesia; no flight before the fit-to-fly check.

How to compare this with a quote at home
Ask any clinic for the same list: surgeon and anaesthetist fees, hospital nights, tests, medication, garments or splints, follow-up visits. A cheaper headline price usually excludes several of these. Then add your flights and insurance to our price for a like-for-like comparison.
How to prepare
- 1.Send photos of the area from the front, sides and back, relaxed, and tell us whether the skin springs back when pinched.
- 2.Hold a stable weight. Stop smoking 4 weeks before; stop aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil and supplements that increase bleeding 14 days before.
- 3.Bring loose clothing over the treated area and buy a second compression garment if you want to wash one.
- 4.Arrange 4–5 nights in Turkey and 2–4 days off desk work.
Aftercare at home
- •Compression garment day and night for 3–4 weeks, removed only to shower.
- •Expect fluid leakage from the ports for 1–2 days; absorbent pads are provided.
- •Walk daily; light cardio from week 2; full exercise from week 3–4.
- •Gentle massage of firm areas from week 2 as instructed.
- •Keep the port scars out of the sun for 3 months.
- •Report increasing pain, one-sided swelling, fever or spreading redness. Photos at 2 weeks, 6 weeks and 3 months.
